Dear Checkers: Burgers•Fries•Colas

After visiting Checkers (fast food restaurant) in Augusta, GA I have this to say:

Dear Checkers:

The only thing good about your food was the price I paid for it and the sprite. Both my burger and fries were cold. Even after warming them up, I didn't see anything "world-famous" about the fries. The burger was bland and I didn't finish either of them.  After eying your restaurant for a week straight, wondering what you had to offer, I now know: nothing. I am disappointed. I would like my $3.98 back.

Tip: Treat every customer as if it's their first time visiting; it was mine. Next time, I'll pass.

Lloyd—King of Hearts

Rated: ALL BAD/Hotmess.com
This cd is terrible. It's amateurish; he's been in/around the game too long for his music to sound like this. First of all, Lloyd needs to find himself. He sounds like Trey Songz, Michael Jackson when he was a part of the Jackson 5 and then something else I can't put my finger on. He needs new writers; his songs are completely hollow. He's not a great vocalist as it is, then you add yelling, yodeling, screaming, crooning and WTF-lyrics...All bad. The cd has no continuity to it. I'm as confused as he sounds with this project. Don't even get me started on "Dedication to my Ex," featuring Andre 3000; they say 3 Stacks is highly selective about where/for whom he does features so I don't understand why he opted to do this. They were singing two different songs. Again, all bad. Do better. Don't waste your time or your money.

Current Track: None-After 3 days of trying to listen to this cd, I give up!

Weezy "F" Baby—Sorry 4 The Wait

Rated: Don't do it it's a trap!

If you're not a blood (gang member) don't bother downloading or listening to this mixtape. This wasn't for the fans at all. It's gang music. It wasn't good. Sorry for the wait? Weezy, you could've kept this. It's not creative in the least bit. People were ranting and raving about his cover of "Sure Thing" but it wasn't great either. I'll give him a +1 for his take on "Grove St. Party," but again...all bad.

Current Track: None, I turned that mess off!

Jill Scott: "Light of the Sun"

 Rated: WC (Worth Coppin')

Jill Scott is another woman who's come under scrutiny by fans because they feel she's "changed." Like Beyonce, her album is solid. It reminds me of her album "Who is Jill Scott?" Classic, timeless, authentic. It's safe to say the only thing different about Jill is her hair. She gives you poetry, lyrics, and soulful singing. It's not all neo-soul though, she has some downright bangers and mainstream singles in "So Gone" (What My Mind Says) featuring Paul Wall and "Shame" (Feat. Eve). Don't let the looks fool you, she's still Jilly from Philly. Old-school feel, new-school message. Cop it.

Current Track: 3 Shame (Feat. Eve)

Beyonce "4"

 Rated: WC (Worth Coppin')
There's so much controversy surrounding this album. I'm not sure why. It sounds like classic Beyonce to me. I've never really been #TeamBey but I don't understand all the flack she's receiving. "4" is a solid album. She does a lot musically, but it works. Some people (Chris Brown) try to be eclectic and it falls short; Beyonce, however, gives you what she always give: something to dance to, something to sing to, and anthems for days. This is a classic album, superstar status. Spend your money, dance and sing 'til your heart's content.
Current Track: 4: Countdown
(Really feeling 2: "Schoolin' Life—Deluxe Edition—and 4: Best Thing I Never Had)

Rated: H/M (Hit or Miss)

If you're a huge Breezy fan, cop it. If not, don't. Being the latter, I found the project to be a little all over the place. Good for variety but bad for someone only looking for a particular genre. I find myself pressing skip a lot. A whole lot. The dance and pop tracks don't do it for me. He does have some bangers on this album though. Of course there's "Deuces" and "Look at me now." I also really enjoy the collabo he did with Wiz "Taylor Gang" Khalifa, "Bomb" and would have to say "Paper, Scissors, Rock" is my favorite. This album is eclectic to say the least. Purchase at your own risk.

Current Track: 16,   "Paper, Scissors, Rock "

Brian Courtney Wilson-Just Love

Rated: WC (Worth Coppin')
If you've never heard of Brian Courtney Wilson, you need to familiarize yourself. The Houston gospel singer does an amazing job on his "Just Love" project. The entire cd is a worship experience. It's so personal. With ballads such as "Awesome God" "Almighty God" and "Already Here" you can't go wrong. This album is a pick-me-up. It's a reminder of who God really is. It's simply Agape music. It's not Baptist or Pentecostal, it's simply worship. My all-time favorites are "Already Here," "All I Need" and "Awesome God." If you've been sleeping on this album, wake up! Cop it.

Current Track: 1 "Awesome God"

Lil Wayne: I Am Not A Human Being

Rated: WC (Worth Coppin')

I'm usually dissuaded by albums with only 10 tracks on them, but I gotta give it to Weezy F Baby (Please say the baby), he did his thang! This cd is a press play from start to finish. This album is as unique and quirky as he is, full of metaphors and excellent word-play. Wayne is a lyrical genius and his delivery is just what's needed on each song. He even manages to do a track with Nicki Minaj that doesn't make me gag. Rarely is there a cd in which I jam every song. "I am not a Human Being" is that album. Pick a favorite...you can't. I will say, he could have left his boy "T-Streets" off of "Hold Up" but still, a solid, solid project. Incredible beats, nice collaborations, fantastic solo pieces, killer title track; what more could you want in an album? It's worth the money.

Current Track: All of them: CD on REPEAT

Now or Never-Tank

Rated: WC (Worth Coppin')

This album is as hot as he is! It's 3 parts baby-making music and 1 part love story. Of course it's well-written, has great collaborations and is wonderfully sang. This cd will do something to you. It evokes emotion. Listen with caution. Tank (and his music) is highly underrated. Please don't sleep on "Now or Never."

Current Track: 11 "Amazing" and 13 "I Can't Make You Love Me" (Peep the latest video below)

Keyshia Cole: Calling All ♥'s

Rated: P (Pass)

"Calling All Hearts" is an inconsistent piece. There are some hits such as the second single, "Long Way Down," the duet with Tank, "Tired of Doing Me," (which is just okay for a duet with Tank, I mean his voice is incredible) and "What You Do to Me" and then there are complete misses—songs that don't sound like finished products and that should have never left the lab—"I Ain't Thru" with Nicki Minaj and "If I Fall in Love Again" with Faith Evans (which sounds more like something that should be on Faith's cd, not Keyshia's). The remaining 5-9 songs (depending on which album you purchase) are take or leave. If you never hear this cd, you're not missing out on anything. Don't waste your money, buy the singles for $0.99 on iTunes.

Current Track: 8 "What you do to me"

Kirk Franklin: Hello Fear

Rated: WC (Worth Coppin')
A  "press play " from start to finish.

Straight up, this album is better than almost every secular cd that came out this year. You have throwbacks like "Something About the Name Jesus Pt 2" and bangers like "Give Me." It's redemption, salvation and rejuvenation all wrapped in one. This album is inspiring. It's a job well done. Kirk Franklin (and the family) does not disappoint. Out of the box, inspirational and above all, good music, great singing and a phenomenal message. Spend your money, save your life!

Current Track: #3 "Before I Die"

Miguel: All I Want is You

Rated: WC (Worth Coppin')

Overall, a really good cd! There's a little something for everyone. He creatively brings together the thug and hopeless romantic with such songs as, "Sure Thing" and "My Piece" (my favorites so far). A great introductory project! His musical style is Pop, R & B and Hip Hop. Well-written. Creative. Something to chill or vibe to. It's worth purchasing.

Current Track: #13 "My Piece"
